Cougar Canyon Bouldering

Bouldering topo for the Cougar Canyon climbing area in Vernon, B.C. Really nice Gneiss! There is enough here to spend a couple of days on and really nice in the heat of summer! Some super problems here, from V0 - V10, there is a little something for everyone to try.

  1. Where abouts are the boulders located at cougar canyon? I've been climbing out there but on all bolted routes on the rock face.

  2. Hey I used this topo plus the expanded Secret Garden topo yesterday to explore some new boulders. Really great area BUT:

    1) Take a LEFT at the fork towards the ROCKCLIMBING Area. The guide says go right to the lookout.

    2) The approach is a lot longer than the guide implies (30+ mins) with fairly rough terrain (down the scree field to the boulders).

    3) F-ing grizzly droppings?! Sketch.

    4) Don't go off trail to much. It's easy to go looking for the boulders in the wrong area. Don't go too far south (past the outhouse). There seems to be another trail network which doesn't connect back up to the shouldering if you jump trails.

    5) The locals/rock/route quality is really nice. Would recommend, but it's a bit intense to get there/routefind.

That secret garden is REALLY secret. ;)

  3. Hey Dave,
I appreciate the kudos for the nice climbing. Yeah the bouldering is a bit hard to find, but the trail was marked as best I as I could, working on making it better. Some people have more sense of adventure than others....email me at allenclimbs@gmail.com, if you would like some better beta. Cheers dude
